Spokane Treatment & Recovery Services—commonly known as STARS—is a nonprofit behavioral health agency serving Spokane and the Inland Northwest. Established in 1980, STARS provides multiple levels of substance use disorder and mental health care through individualized service planning and evidence-based treatment.

The STARS facility at 628 S. Cowley Avenue provides withdrawal management services for adults experiencing acute or subacute withdrawal symptoms. Services include specialized clinical consultation and supervision for biomedical, emotional, behavioral, and cognitive concerns, followed by referral to the appropriate level of continued care after discharge.

The Cowley Avenue location also provides Sobering, Triage and Transition services. This program offers a safe, supervised, and temporary setting for people who are intoxicated, with monitoring available until the individual is functionally sober. A sobering stay may last up to 23 hours and 59 minutes.

STARS also coordinates care with its assessment, co-occurring outpatient, and residential treatment programs. However, those services may operate at other Spokane-area locations. Individuals and families should call (509) 570-7250 to confirm availability, admission requirements, payment information, and the appropriate level of care
