breaking the stigma of addiction

August 31: International Overdose Awareness Day

Our son and only child, Zachary John Horton passed away suddenly after losing his battle with an opioid addiction. He died of an accidental overdose at just 19 years old. We loved him with all of our hearts, but we now know that was not enough to shield him from this horrific disease.

If you or a loved one is struggling with the disease of addiction, we encourage you to explore our resources for guidance. We are here to help.

Jim & Lynn share their story

One of the changes we want to bring with our Web site the Zachary Horton Foundation is to give families in crisis all of the local resources in one place. We also want you to know you can contact us anytime you need to talk to someone who will listen and not judge. Whatever your story may be, we hope these resources are helpful.

Story behind our Logo

A few months before Zach died, he adopted Roscoe, a spunky, cute French Bulldog puppy which brought him so much joy. Zach loved and spoiled him. Today, Roscoe is still very much a part of our family and helps us to keep Zach with us daily. Roscoe was our inspiration for our logo, along with an Oklahoma Red Bud tree. A group of Lynn’s Wisconsin friends pitched in and purchased the tree planted along the Eaton Trail Tribute Grove at Woodward Park.
